Traktor lost a sizeable chunk of their customer base because they did absolutely nothing with their software for about 3 years. In that time, they released two updates - a step sequencer that nobody asked for, and color coding for their tracks.
They systematically ignored a ton of feature requests - most notably being an improved library system getting it more in line with serato and rekordbox in terms of features like smart playlists, improved searching and sorting, and a few others.
They also ignored calls for hardware updates like a z2 mk2 or a z4 (although the s8 was basically a z4).
In the time where they were doing almost nothing with their software, rekordbox dj appeared and serato kept pumping out support for new controllers - including the roland gear which offered some of the live pa type features that traktor used to have a lock on.
Discontinuing support for gear like the S5 and D2 only 3 years after their release didn’t help inspire confidence either.
And when Traktor 3 released and it was essentially just a facelift and maybe some under the hood stuff with free DVS came out - and still none of the requested features included (and was a paid upgrade on top of that) - I think that turned a lot more people off.
The S4 MK3 looks like a dope controller to me, but it might be too little, too late.
I feel like they completely overestimated how successful STEMS were going to be as well as made a major strategic error with the removal of jog wheels from their products. I also think they thought people would welcome them with open arms for their triumphant return, but the DJ software scene is so much more crowded now with rekordbox dj and their new controllers, the new denon stuff, and a bunch of new and unique serato controllers like the roland stuff and the Rane setup.

REMIX DECKS
One-shot samples and loops on Remix decks blur the lines between DJ and live performance. Insert samples, atmospheric effects, and more into a Remix deck and trigger them in sync with the rest of your mix. Drag a loop you like from another deck to keep it playing in your remix deck for extended mixes.
STEMS
The Stems audio format splits tracks into four musical components, such as drums, bass, vocals, and melody, so you can mix them independently. Edit and re-edit in the heat of the moment, blend basslines and vocals from tracks you know to create tracks you didn’t.
