Apple’s new Boot Camp software fully supports it. NewerTech miniStack: A great drive even if you don’t own a Mac mini, Dan Knight, Low End Mac Reviews, 2006.02.08. Although it’s designed to match the Mac mini, the miniStack hard drive can add USB 2.0 and FireWire ports to any Mac while keeping your fast external hard drive cool. Upgrading a Non-SSD Late 2014 Mac Mini to Fusion Drive. Today I have a little treat for you and hopefully, it will save you a little money in the process, although to be honest if you bought the Hard Disk version of the Late 2014 Mac Mini, you will probably be thinking that the little powerhouse is not really that great. Dec 04, 2012 jedib0p is correct regarding the Fusion drive. So, for you, you should be able to press COMMAND+R when you restart your 2012 Mac Mini with Fusion drive to get to the Recovery HD instead of Internet Recovery. BUT, if for some reason the Recovery HD is hosed or not there, that key combination will go to Internet Recovery like jedib0p mentioned. Nov 27, 2012  Note that this drive is 1 TB in size. As of this writing, Boot Camp only supports drives up to 2.2 TB in size. Next I’ll be posting an article about how to get Windows installed on a 3 TB or larger drive. The Fusion setup in a Late 2012 Mac Mini is a 128GB 2.5' SSD and a 1T 2.5' HDD. So if you do decide to split the Fusion setup, you will end up with a 128GB SSD and a 1T HDD.

Always be sure you have a good backup before splitting, working on or installing any new drives.

To split the Fusion setup, see > https://www.macworld.com/article/2015664/storage-flash/how-to-split-up-a-fusion- drive.html

YES' you could pull out the SSD and install a 1T 2.5'HDD in it's place or install 2 new 1T 2.5' HDDs. However your Mac Mini will be much slower with dual HDDs, than it is now with the Fusion setup.

Personally I would not go backwards to dual HDDs. If anything I would replace the smaller SSD with a larger SSD, run from the SSD, then use the HDD for backup or media storage.

Presented as a single volume on your Mac, Fusion Drive automatically and dynamically moves frequently used files to Flash storage for quicker access, while infrequently used items move to the high-capacity hard disk. As a result, you enjoy shorter startup times and—as the system learns how you work—faster application launches and quicker file access.

Fusion Drive manages all of this automatically in the background. And it comes already set up, so you don't have to do anything to make it happen.
